AccuRad™ PRD is Now ANSI Compliant

Since its initial field release in November 2019, the AccuRad PRD – Mirion’s latest radiation detection innovation – has received numerous contracts and awards for its innovative, user-led design. It was even featured on Episode 3 of America By Design. Now, the personal radiation detection device adds another achievement to the list.

We are pleased to announce that the AccuRad PRD fully meets rigorous performance and testing standards for homeland security under ANSI N42.32-2016. This is an important milestone for Mirion’s award-winning PRD, as it assures our users that the device will do what it was designed to do: help emergency responders ensure public safety, no matter the environment.

ACCURAD PRD – PUT TO THE TEST

In order to meet the American National Standard Performance criteria for alarming personal radiation detectors for Homeland Security, the AccuRad PRD underwent extensive testing that evaluated the device across a number of standards. These ranged from functional tests of the user interface and controls, to performance tests under extreme temperatures, drop, impact, and others.  

Across the board, the AccuRad PRD not only met expectations but exceeded them.

Tests were performed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory Technical Testing and Analysis Center (TTAC) and Global Testing Laboratories located in Knoxville, TN; and IB3 Global Solutions, located in Oak Ridge, TN.

Solving the challenges of emergency responders was at the core of the AccuRad PRD’s development from the beginning, which could explain its high marks across ANSI testing categories.
